Helene Boyer, glassmaker

Helene Boyer

Glass maker

Helene is a glass artist and sculptor who utilises forms drawn from nature to comment upon contemporary themes. Flame-worked glass forms, often detailed with painting and mark-making, are assembled to create a landscape/world that explores the relationship between the botanical world and the human spirit.

Intrigued by anthropomorphic terrestrial/ marine plants and fungi, she often captures botanically-inspired sculptures under glass like the scientific specimen displays of the 19th century, sometimes creating quasi scientific names for imagined forms.

In the past five years, Helene’s work has been exhibited in state, national and international galleries and acquired by local, national and international collectors. She is a long-time resident member of these studios.
